3 Benefits of Prescott-Martini’s STIR-SHAKEN Technology
October 7, 2020 at 6:00 AM
how does STIR/SHAKEN technology work?

When the TRACED Act (Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence) became law in December 2019, it gave the FCC more power to prevent and pursue scammers and criminals behind the rising number of robocalls in the United States. Specifically, the FCC now has the power to go after first-time scammers and extends the statute of limitations up to four years in certain cases, as well as delivers steeper financial penalties against them.

To reduce and prevent the number of robocalls, the FCC mandated that all large service providers must implement STIR-SHAKEN protocols by June 30, 2021, and smaller providers must do the same by June 30, 2022. Here’s how Prescott-Martin’s STIR-SHAKEN technology can benefit telecom providers.

1: FCC compliance through STIR-SHAKEN protocol

No matter the size of your telecom service, you must become and remain compliant with all items addressed in the TRACED Act and FCC’s mandates. This means that, by June 30, 2021, or June 30, 2022, you must ensure your operation meets these new standards. Not only is it advantageous to you as a provider to steer clear of any misalignments to avoid fines, penalties, and reputational damages, but it’s what your customers will come to expect.

But becoming compliant may not be as straight forward as many wish it were; there are many steps to take to ensure you are aligned with the mandates. While it is your responsibility to do due diligence in understanding what is required of your telecom service, we have the experience, insight, and team to ensure we provide you with the STIR-SHAKEN technology solutions you need to meet these requirements. Not only does this benefit your bottom line, but it benefits your customers, as they are sure to be more satisfied with your company if they no longer receive robocalls.

2: 150 combined years of knowledge and experience

STIR-SHAKEN technology is new to most of us. But what’s far from new to the team at Prescott-Martini is the telecom space. Between our team, we have a century and a half’s worth of experience in the telecommunications industry. During this team, we’ve earned valuable insight and remained very much in tune with major shakeups in the industry—and the TRACED Act and STIR-SHAKEN are no exceptions.

That’s why we combined forces with Digital IP Voice, Inc., Emerg & Company, Inc., and Prescott-Clearwater Technologies: we are determined to deliver an unrivaled STIR/SHAKED technology solution to ensure you become compliant and better serve your customers. No other actor in this space has the experience to offer the expert guidance and service required to help you navigate the complexities of this intricate topic.

3: A proven, reliable solution

Compliance is one thing, but turning to a technology solution you can count on time and time again is invaluable. We understand the importance of implementing solutions that will keep you aligned with FCC mandates, and that’s why we’re proud to offer our patent-pending, federally-compliant solution.

Our service prevents robocalls by:

  • Receiving the MySQL data query
  • Adding a verified called-ID from our ANI inventory, which may also include any existing ANIs to our CLEC
  • Producing a Service Provider signature certificate generated by the national STIR-SHAKEN admin, which is accepted by all major telephone carriers in the United States
  • Returning MySQL data for you to insert into your call SIP header, which gives you the ability to add, edit, or delete any ANI on your end
  • Sending the destination call receiver a message alerting them that the call is coming from a verified caller
