There’s nothing more annoying than getting a call in the middle of something important for a phony robocall.

From scams about expired car titles to calls about a fake warrant for your arrest, robocalls can be incredibly frustrating. Some people have tried using security robocall blocker programs, but do these really work?

The reason why robocalls are so frequent and pervasive is because it’s very easy for companies to use the internet to call multiple people in rapid succession. Not only is this easy, but it’s also very affordable for a company to use this tactic. And if they believe this can help them obtain another customer, client or successful scam, they will continue using it.

While the FCC is doing all they can to stop robocalls from interrupting your day, you can use a security robocall blocker to lessen or even stop these calls from coming in. Here’s how robocall blockers work.

It tracks reported spam numbers

Many robocall blocker programs keep tabs on reports of spam and robocalls. It tracks these numbers, and if your phone starts getting a call from one of those numbers, it automatically blocks the call from coming in. While this may not cover all of your bases, it certainly lessens the number of robocalls you’ll get.

It allows you to manually report a spam number

One tactic robocall programs use is the “neighborhood calling” tactic, where it calls you from numbers that are similar to yours or are from your neighborhood. Since you see a number come up that looks familiar to you, you answer, and then the robocall plays an automated message. You can manually report a spam number to your robocall blocker, so it’s aware of any new activity or numbers it should track for spam calls.

Some play automated messages

Some robocall blocker programs even play automated messages when the robocall comes through, making it sound like there’s someone on the other line. This then goes through to whoever is at the company making the robocall and plays a message asking them to remove your phone number from their directory.

Most robocall blockers get constant updates

While it’s fine and good to let inform your robocall blocker program of a spam call, companies often change tactics quickly. They will start using different numbers or calling at different times to try and get through to you. Most security robocall blocker systems get constant updates from their server, letting them know about new phone numbers to block, what area codes to track and look for and more. So you’ll be keeping up with any changes the offending callers make.

While robocalls are frustrating, they don’t have to control your life. And with the right combined tactics and technology, you can stop robocalls in their tracks.
